DynaRithmic TWAIN Library (DTWAIN) 2.4.0.0 (Free Version)

The Free Version of DTWAIN is a stripped down version of the retail version of DTWAIN.  There is no time-limit on the free version of DTWAIN.

The DTWAIN free version has the following limitations.

  • DTWAIN DLL Free Version cannot be used in a commercial, shareware, or public domain. Usage is limited to personal or in-house use.

  • When the DTWAIN DLL is initially loaded, a message box appears reminding you or your users that they are using a version of DTWAIN that is for personal or in-house use only. The same message box appears once an acquisition starts.

  • Acquisitions are limited to single pages (no multi-page support).

  • TWAIN Data Source is closed after each acquisition.

  • Native Mode acquisitions are supported. Buffered mode is not supported. File mode is supported, but only BMP files can be generated.

  • Default TWAIN source capability values are supported (the application cannot set capabilities). The only settings that are changeable are resolution, contrast, and brightness.

  • A source can only be selected using the TWAIN Select Source dialog.

  • The Source User Interface must be used when acquiring images.

  • TWAIN Message Loop Interception is not supported (must use DTWAIN Modal loop acquisitions)

  • Imprinter and Duplex options are not supported.

To summarize, you can acquire only single pages, and only to BMP files if acquiring to a file. If you call a function that is not supported, or call a function with unsupported options, a message box will appear stating that the function is not supported.

For the DTWAIN_AcquireFile or DTWAIN_AcquireFileEx functions, the only type that is accepted in the  Personal Edition is the DTWAIN_BMP (a Windows BMP) file type. If another type is specified, DTWAIN_AcquireFile(Ex) will return 0 and no acquisition will occur.

DynaRithmic TWAIN Library version (DTWAIN) 3.0 Beta (45-day expiration)

The 45-day beta version of DTWAIN 3.0.  Final release date and pricing has not yet been announced.

DynaRithmic TWAIN Library Test Suite

There are pre-built applications that have been created with the latest version of the DynaRithmic TWAIN Library. These applications can (and should) be executed to see if your TWAIN device behaves correctly. The most important example is DTWDEMO.EXE, since this example tests many aspects of the TWAIN driver.

The test suite examples are included in the DTWAIN Personal and Demo editions.  The test suite examples can also be distributed with your application, or to others who would like to see if their device works with DTWAIN.

There is absolutely no restriction on who obtains or uses the test suite examples. The examples can be distributed with your application, or you can just download the examples and give them away. The advantage of this is that if you plan on writing an application that will be distributed to many users/customers, you have ready-made DTWAIN applications that the user can run right away to determine if there are any problems running with DTWAIN.

DynaRithmic TwainSave, version 1.4

  • TwainSave fully functional 30-day trial period.  After 30 days, you must purchase a license to continue usage.

DynaRithmic TwainTester Beta

TwainTester, the TWAIN Device Tester, is a 32-bit executable that gives extensive information for any installed TWAIN device.   Currently this free beta version is available.  There are no time restrictions for using this beta.
